I thought the domain name next to it was giving a hint. Better headline might have been: "Dual licensing business model does not work anymore" but that's long.

What I meant is: while they develop. The AGPL does not require you to publish your code before you either distribute it or run it online.

We won't drop OCaml! We love it ;) We are adding new backends to Opa - for glorious benefit of other people.

It's much more readable than complex combinations of " and '. Furthermore, with the static typing, all your structures are checked at compile time: Try it, you'll see how helpful it is.

Thanks for your comment. You raise insightful questions and we are aware that our current licensing must change. Expect to read about this soon!

Currently, we did not work a lot on reducing the size of the generated JavaScript code nor the memory usage. There are definitely huge potential gains in that space, and we planned to focus on this once we have the Node.js backend: Benefits

I'm from the Opa team and we did not post this here. The press release is intended for business users, who want to know that kind of information. For developers, opalang.org is enough, isn't it?

You should really check Opa, which has been discussed several times here. The syntax does not please everyone (and can evolve) but at least it is built on original concepts. See http://opalang.org . An alternative is Ur/Web if you're that

Partial answers/tidbits: The JS code is not as optimized as what you can write manually, although a lot of work was put in making it work "fast enough" (thanks Mathieu). However, we have many ideas on how to reach native performance. Look f
