If the manager can't tell that the customers are having a bad time they have no business running a restaurant. IME in the best places the manager comes to the table at the end (after entree is served or pre-bill) and ask whether you&#x

In the UK or rest of Europe that's fine, in the US 10% is grossly offensive. (Which IMO is insane but it is what it is.)

A very aggressive taxi driver (it was one up from a regular taxi, but don't recall what) drove my Gran and me from SFO to SF, the drive was TERRIFYING, would have been 1* on Uber. Yet he angrily demanded a 25% tip, he didn't get i

The difference between bad service and good service might only be 15% vs 20% and IME most American's do not tip punitively anyway, and tip the same no matter what. The employer is in a much better position to assess staff performance t

Vim is stagnant (or was?) which is fine for most users but sucks in the long run. Would vim 8 have async if neovim did not exist? No, because it was fine without it.

+1. Also it's easy to write code that supports both, so if you really need python 2 support right now (surely AWS Lambda python 3 is coming soon, you can already use it unofficially) that's a much better option than being entrench

It's interesting you'd use jekyll server rather than just to generating static pages. If I wasn't just using an engine server anyway I could see the appeal of hugo.

One solution is to just send all the linked pages on first load (all the markdown content, so when transitioning they only load images, or of seen before get them "from cache").

Hmmmm, I know it seems ridiculous but I wonder if it would it be cheaper to just spool up an ec2 machine and async invoke the lambda call e.g. via boto? It seems like APIG has a boat load of features, which is great... but they are mostly u

If you're using lambda you have access to dynamodb, which is reasonably priced (and runs on a similar "pay what you use" and very generous free plan).

This would be great as a latex macro (or however it might work), having diagrams inline in the source would be amazing.

I guess my question was "why use vagrant/ansible over a more simple AWS setup like Elastic Beanstalk"? I agree it being Flask is largely irrelevant.

Why go through all this for a simple flask app (or even a more complicated one)? What do you gain over just using Elastic Beanstalk (which handles the monitoring/autoscaling etc.)

I've seen some python 2 code "made use" of the deterministic ordering of dict. Migrating to python 3 sucked, it took a while to realize this was the reason for some failing tests.

In python 2 the ordering was deterministic. Cue lots of weird bugs when upgrading to python 3. Of course, it should never have been relied on... but it had been. I'd prefer either a completely random order or a completely deterministic

You can use the mnemonic "dog" or "adog". Note: the `--abbrev-commit` is redundant due to the `--pretty=oneline`.
