For make there is much better option than googling: https://www.gnu.org/software/make/manual/make.html and hit Ctrl+F. You can even easily search for things like $<. Nothing else is really needed. And for

Everything is something. It is helpful to know what this particular something is - regardless if it is sold or not.

It goes like that: I thought that the question "Why?" asked about this particular fragment of GP's comment: > I don’t think I have ever starred anything on Github. (...) Not to the particular situation of fixes for likes.

Off-topic: Is this only my perception or many things lately that come in single digit tiers (with some mostly irrelevant prefixes)? It is not a bad trend really (number big -> thing pricey), but funny to see.

I think to avoid ambiguity it should be always written as social media platform called "X" (formerly known as Twitter). I don't think I will ever be able to get used to the name.

Other than cars with mufflers cut out most car noise (above a certain speed) is the tire noise. At least that's how I understand it. Not to say it wouldn't be nice if cars would be otherwise silent, but i.e. highway noise wouldn&#

I wonder if Renault is on the same level as Nissan. I understand they share a lot, but are not present on the American market.

There was a discussion here lately about how the budget is fulfilled at the end of a year by spending all the rest of the money on some bullshit. Now I wonder if it could be spent on OpenSource projects the company is using either directly

I have a DCP-J725DW for around 12 or more years. I used non-official ink cartridges for it for most of its life. Quality of print declined a bit, but it was mostly, because we did not print as much in some years. Now we print more as my dau

I worry about corporations and/or authoritarians getting even more edge. Personally I am not worried about a Terminator/Skynet scenario, more about greed and people holier than thou using this technology to cement their position.

I often hear that about the OpenAI board, but in general are people here know most board members of some big/darling tech companies? Outside of some of the co-founders I don't know anyone.

If I understand correctly those are just somewhat cheaper per unit and some of them do run on lines that are not electrified. So it happens that a diesel train runs entirely (or often partially) on electrified lines like in the photo I gave

I do not share your view, but partly understand it. I would worry that the "decline of human exceptionalism" will be used by corporations to widen their stance even more. After all corporations are also people (wink).

AFAIU not every app can be a driver and most probably no app you installed without administrator rights. There could also be an easy restriction that there can be only one lid open driver or limited to the manufacturer. There are lots of th

I am also sure that prompt injection will be used to break out to be able to use a company's support chat for example as a free and reasonably fast LLM, so someone else would cover OpenAI expense for the attacker.
