Could you expand? That's close to what I've been thinking about in terms of my future. One thing that I worry about is that there seem to be quite a lot of competition in the space and to give clients I feel I would have to go thr

I don't know how long you use another keyboard layout, but I would urge you to try qwerty for a week or two and you may be surprised how quick you can switch. I don't mean at full speed. It may be bad advice as I base it on my exp

Very nice concept, but I'm afraid this device running on a MediaTek SoC will never run a main line Linux so I expect to see 2-3 years of support. I would prefer for the device to be inherently hackable and that requires running on a ma

Sometimes I would like to have a small laptop with black and white screen or maybe 8 bit color that would have extreme (measured in days) or almost unlimited battery power (solar cell?). Something that would have a C compiler for happy hack

Watching his videos is often very calming for me at the same time. Visually striking beauty in simple things, calm narration and pleasing music. I also recommend his Lazy channel.

In every company I worked for (Germany, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland) it was all Windows laptops, that for the Linux component either used a VM, WSL or straight up servers.

Exactly. Though security is an onion, so it is at least making it harder. In the traditional Linux desktop model a vulnerability may allow to run something as the user. It can change your bashrc, your application menu as well as your launch

I had issues like that a few years back on memory starved Chromebooks, in my case the biggest savior was the Great Suspender/Discarder extension as I hoard tabs, otherwise the Android subsystem on a 4GB RAM machine is stretching it thi

It may be unintuitive to you, but "the biggest" in many cases means "most populous" and Germany is that - we don't count Russia (because it is not entirely in Europe) or Turkey (for a similar reason) really.

I don't know which Android added it, but it also has AB partition scheme (they call it seamless updates) for several years now.

That made it possible to give 10 years of updates. That's the main reason for me to want Android to base on ChromeOS, not the other way around.

ChromeOS-like implies an immutable image with the AB partition scheme for me. Other than Fedora Silverblue there is nothing like it as far as I know.

Lately I come back to posh [1] a modular and very simple (maybe even barebones) shell language. There is not much to it really, but the simplicity is a starting point for me. It gives me a bit execline [2] vibes. [1] https://gith

This ramping up AI war will leave no prisoners. I am not an Apple customer in any way, I am in Google's ecosystem, but I feel that I need to make an exit, at least some essentials, preferably this year. My e-mail, my documents, my phot

Farmers also want to have a large swaths of a monoculture plant, because it is easy then to mechanize. That goes, as you say, against the normal ecosystem. Permaculture gardens look much different, but you can't easily mechanize that.
