As an alternative for Electron it's not as important, so I cheer the effort. But... For me that means it's not really "native". Native as in CPU native is just to say it's reasonably fast and efficient. It's ni

I agree, but at the same time I feel that we are losing some of this common folk knowledge. It is strange, because we are in this information age, however it's full of noise. I'm not saying that it's bad to know how things ar

With every similar news I feel dumb. Because my parents and my grandparents used to say same things. It was easy to dismiss all the advice as grumbling, but I really should refresh air before sleeping, humidify air in heating season, eat mo

I hear you. In my office people have two 16:10 displays each. Everyone puts them side by side, making a long ribbon. A few people will setup main screen horizontally and second one vertically. Since I've got those with miniscule bezels

Remember that your computer is really made of multiple computers that run bare-metal code or can have their own OSes. For example Intel CPUs have Minix running inside of them.

Thank you! Why such a useful thing was not copied by everyone (especially by YouTube and Netflix) is beyond me. I have to give Apple the credit for those tiny details.

One thing that I would love to have on mobile is an adaptive (?) video seeking. So you touch the "video cursor" and then move: the x axis is for seeking, but y axis is for sensitivity. Moving a finger along the bar (y = 0) is as t

Exactly. I think that, other than high profile OSS projects that receive donations from multiple companies and have salaried maintainers from said companies, only monthly donations work. But this way only one or two key people can live off

No, I'm reinventing ChromeOS. I started on this project with my father in mind, to make it easier for me to maintain his computer. My father would not run NixOS, but maybe I'm wrong. This will give a single image and very little t

As my old ARM Chromebook gets nearer to it's EOL I start to look for how to install Linux on it. I'm wondering if postmarketOS could be used to do this. Has anyone tried to do something like this or where should I look? I'm s

It seems that it would pay out a lot for them to do a few simple heuristics by hand. For example: if just bought something do not show a thing from the same category. At most show a thing from accessories category, which I think they do.

From what I found around 160 mln laptops were sold last year. Apple sold around 18 mln, in other words around 11%. HP, Lenovo and Dell sold each around 2 to 3.5 times that. Can you say then that Apple dominates laptop market? Rather that th
