The most interesting part for me is MyPy to C++ conversion. I understand it's easier that way. It certainly makes it easier to package Oil. It's a necessary step to bootstrap all the work. Certainly such a conversion tool would be

Arrrgh! I'm already planning to get off ChromeOS (unscrew the write protect screw!) and Google services, but this takes it one point further. If they remove this option, they should better integrate Google Photos with Chromebooks. Chro

I think it is safest if you will not factor people having book/laptop/hot coffee in front of their face. For other considerations see sibling posts. The same issue is for back facing seats on autonomous cars. I don't see it h

In previous discussion about AdNauseam one user familiar with the ad industry said [0]: > I worked in adtech a few years ago, and AdNauseam-style click fraud is a relatively trivial to detect and ignore. It does nothing, and adtech compa

Yeah, it's time to unscrew the write protect screw. I'm wondering how Firefox for Android manages on ChromeOS. For now it's too slow on Crostini. But my cheap Chromebook is not performing well with both Crostini and Android c

In Berlin (I don't know if it's different in other parts of Germany) and in Poland the default speed limit in cities is 50kph (~30mph). In Berlin most drivers match speed limits. In Poland most drivers ride at 70kph (~45mph) in ci

I thought about buying a thermostat for my district heating radiators. But for the time being I just manage with a cheap thermometer and regulating the radiator manually, because they already have a crude thermostat. It works quite good, be

This project is very cool, but I also think it was kinda possible on X11. However not as easy and that's why this project is exciting for me. I tried to hack on tabbed from suckless [0] with a little utility to achieve a similar behavi

How does a rocket deal with those side stresses while it's attached to the airplane? AFAIK rockets generally do not deal well with sideways forces, because a rocket is a giant can.

Hooray for vector type. Language does not require operator overloads when math has proper first-class support. That's my favorite bike-shed color.

Violet in the article is not a real violet. A computer screen shows violet as a mix of red, green and blue as all colors. So the violet in the article is really a blueish purple. Also many file formats encode them as such. That's only

There is not a mention of memory safety in this post. It's very confusing term in this context. I wouldn't call running a binary with syscall interception (with qemu for example) as "memory safe".

Then it's a bit bizarre to call it memory safe. I would say that "sandbox" is far more established term for what it is or does. Because if by using seccomp and/or user namespaces I would say that Linux/C is memory s
