I'd say it was better 4 years ago. Maybe because they weren't worried about making money yet. Now with all the "optimizations" to the feed, it's less relevant than ever. Or maybe people just stopped posting interest

I did maybe 4.5 hours commute a day for a few months (bike - train - bus). The worst part is, you leave so early and get home so late that you can never do any errands where you live. Especially when banks etc. are closed on the weekend. Al

One thing I can't understand is why are people not researching this kind of stuff beforehand? By the time you're doing a PhD you're in your mid to late 20's right? You should've been thinking about your marketable s

Honestly I hate this new trend of making displays wider and wider. I feel like 4:3 or something a little bit wider is great for programming. Right now my two widescreen displays waste space at the edges because it's just too far to loo

My two 23" screens area already too big for me. I could cut half off each almost. They're nice IPS panels with minimal glare and really good for your eyes. Putting a cheap 39" TV in front of my nose 8 hours a day sounds ridic

Here's the thing I don't like about fasting - how are you supposed to work out while you're fasting? I can't imagine going to the gym eating 500 calories a day without passing out.

I'm sure everyone here realizes that there's a maximum amount of hours you can work continuously in programming per day. Well it also applies on a longer timescale. Taking some time off will boost your productivity in the long ter

It seems to me (an outsider looking at the Bay Area culture) that people create what the VC's will invest in. In a way the VC companies are the first customers they focus on. If VC's stop funding 90% of their portfolio useless soc

Don't you need some kind of a cracked version of the game for that? I don't know if you can play on private servers with a Steam version of a game anyway.

It's pretty much the same. The security checks are a little bit more lax than TSA but no noticeable difference really. The airports in Finland and Denmark are generally pretty fast at getting people through security, maybe because of p

A bank run would be as devastating on any other currency as it would be to Bitcoin of course. Loss of confidence in a currency destroys it. The same is true for the Yen or the Euro or USD too.
