This seems like a cool lecture, thanks. I've read it maybe halfway through before getting distracted also. It was one of the maybe 5 out of over a 100 books I brought with me when I moved.

It's kind of like putting book authors in this kind of a list. Using more words and more complex ones doesn't really say anything about the quality of the writing. Pretty interesting data-set for fun though.

This is what most programmers-turned-managers keep telling me. The pay is a bit better but they miss programming.

Too bad the work is the polar opposite of a programmer so it's kind of a pointless thing to say in the article that programmers rarely become CEOs. Most people don't want to become CEO's, they're programmers because they

I think of it as Google and Apples failure mostly. Current app stores are terrible for new app discovery. Even for games which used to be a lucrative market a couple of years ago there seems to be just a handful that take in most of the mon

That's like saying a home made burger from top notch ingredients is made with close to identical processes as a McDonald's one. Except of course that they use worse ingredients and cut on all possible costs as long as it still tas

Just offering unpaid time off would mean people who are tight on money would take exactly 0 days off. Because at the end of the month your paycheck is going to be that many days smaller.

We're pretty much surrounded by internet wherever we go these days but still, I could imagine taking four weeks off without any access to the internet and wouldn't want people to think I died.

I can understand not being pumped about having random people come and go if your neighbor is leasing out their place on a site like this regularly. As a traveler I like the service though.

Ramin is criticizing the practices of the big free to play companies by explaining their practices in plain english, he's not saying you should do this (I'm sure some money hungry devs will read this as a guide though).
