Arch also does it. The first time I encountered this was when I accidentally deleted my EFI partition and was unable to boot. Boot into live media, chroot, run grub-install and rejoice.

SO doesn't focus on CS, they focus on solving problems like "How to get better replication on postgres?" etc. This is also why books like SICP, TAOCP and CLRS seem to be missing.

Most of the poor (and the rich too) here (I mean in India) look at such social programs as nothing more than cash-grabs. I have known people who make money by registering for multiple CNG connections and distributing them to other people in

You seem to have articulated all my thoughts perfectly. The thing about parsing text is a very huge pain point for me because I've had some tool change their output (and unicode issues) which broke some scripts. The structured nature o

For one, I can do away with all of the text parsing that is prone to breakage in case a tool changes their output somewhat (or god help me - tools that can't handle unicode properly). The power of bash actually comes from the GNU coreu

Totally off topic but the way you used 'spirit away' made me realise the title for Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away". I never bothered to look it up and felt it was about ghost 'spirits'.

.NET Core does have this and allows distributing the runtime, your classes as a standalone executable. It is obviously larger than just the class files and dlls but works great for portability.

Firefox Nightly has been saying that for almost over 8 months now. I think there were issues regarding the "too many warnings make people blind" stance. But I'm happy it finally made it into release.

StackExchange is the reddit of Q and A. You can find just about anything, and even start a new one if you find it's missing. The important part is answer percentages, quality of answers and the behaviour of people. StackExchange websit

Thanks for the information. I've been running only Nightly for over a year now and hence my misinformation. That logic does seem sound though but would be better implemented if any change to any preference that's not visible in th

Those are really great points you brought up. They went to the back of my head after all these years. I think they dropped Hello altogether. Extension signing is not forced though, can be toggled from about:config. In my opinion WebExtensio

Could you elaborate on some anti-user stuff that Firefox and Safari do? I'd like to know. I do consider Firefox comparatively more open than Chrome though, so I may have my biases.

Firefox is secure against this. FF needs you to right click an input field and select an identity to use for autofill. But Safari does it in the most elegant way. They show a popup with all the information that will be autofilled and ask yo

Firefox works that way and is in my view a much saner default. The best solution used to be in Opera long ago where they showed a little dropdown with the information that was going to be autofilled. You could accept it or deny it.
