DNA is a language not in the sense of natural/human language, but in the sense of a computer language; or rather: machine language. I don't see where's the problem .. The article refers to "computer discs". Well, co

I meant that the gravity from the hypothetical star could have caused a disturbance in one of the asteroid belts and that's why that massive asteroid hit the earth.

Well it doesn't have to be orbiting the sun and causing this periodically. It could've been a one time event.

I'm starting to wonder if a somewhat similar event could have occurred ~66 million years ago and triggered a series of events leading to the extinction of dinosaurs.

> every customer's IP resolves back to localhost What does this even mean? First of all, what does it mean than an IP resolves to a hostname? I thought it's the otherway around: hostnames resolve to IPs. Second, isn't this

It's a framework, it tries to do everything, but it does a half-assed job at most of them. It has its own module system, but it's half-assed. Its architecture is a mess; not simple, not easy to understand. So many people adopt it

This is only a guess. Mere speculation. Perhaps the QR scanning connects the phone and the browser via some token stored somewhere and used to both authenticate and send/receive messages. Think of the "token" as a channel. Ph

I use OS X because of the better hardware and nicer GUI/UX. After installing homebrew, MacVim, iTerm, and Chrome, I can't think of anything major I miss from Linux/Ubuntu. I'm mostly doing front-end development. No "

You're talking about NTs :) I'm not talking about P vs J, more like Ti vs Ni Ti-Ne - Approach problems from philosophical first principles Ni-Te - See reality for what it is and bend it to your purposes

`typeof a` right now returns the string value "undefined" (assuming `a` was not defined anywhere) If it can either return "undefined" or throw an exception, can you see why that would be a problem?

I think the key to the success of Java's flavor of OO is providing an efficient implementation of dynamic function dispatch. This is the core feature, without it, OO would be useless. The same feature can easily be achieved in function

PI is a concenpt. Of course it doesn't exist physically* in the universe. * Well, various "physical" representations/encodings of this concept must exist in different people's brains.

I don't think this works. You don't have to encompass everything about the universe in your mind. You can just comprehend a formula that allows you in principle to calculate any part of it that you need. Think of a fractal. http:

Cyclic causality is even more troublesome than infinite regress. I find myself leaning towards causation breaking down at some point. Just like our concepts of "position" and "momentum" break down at the quantum level.

Why do we even have a 7-day week? 7 and 28 are just as arbitrary as 12. Why do we even have a solar year? If the year was 100 days, we could have a whole year of summer.
