I read somewhere recently that YC uses ruby (or something like that) for their internal software, not lisp. EDIT: found the link https://jobs.lever.co/ycombinator/8703c1d9-af67-4826-90e4-74... > The YC internal soft

I've been thinking lately that our brains might have evolved for communication using language. The fact that they can also do philosophy, math, science and engineering is just an unintended (yet fortunate) consequence of having enough

The name of the "VS Code" product makes the title a little mis-leading. I thought the code for "Visual Studio" was open sourced. Turns out it's just this stripped down editor called "Visual Studio Code".

Two things happen when you learn another language 1) You face "weird" everywhere 2) You come to realize some absurdities in your own native language For example, in Japanese, one of the super weird things is counting. You can'

All languages are not normal in that same sense. Study any language and you will be struck with "weird" all the time.

A good terminal should show you the full pasted text in a confirmation popup before executing it. Also should never accept new lines from a paste. Or rather; if and when the paste contains new lines, it should show a confirmation popup so

That's kinda how lisp came to life, wasn't it? It was supposed to be a theoretical exercise, but someone took the "lisp in lisp" code and manually compiled it to assembly.

Make a vertical copy from one buffer, try to vertically paste it in another buffer, at the end of some line. In MacVim, the vertical rectangle pastes at the end of the existing lines. In NeoVim, it pastes on a new set of lines.

I noticed block (vertical) selection copy/paste doesn't quite work the same as in vim.

How does public-key authentication work? Over things like, ssh, I mean. Does the client send the private key to the server for verification? I'm not sure but I doubt it. At least I hope that's not what it does. My guess would be
