An awning entirely above the window would have to be very large to prevent sunlight from entering the window (see a passive solar eave calculator for details). A flat awning would have to be very sturdy to handle a snow load.

I'm retired now but when I was working I'd just take it slow. Surf the web a bit. Do TODOs that didn't require much mental acuity. Drink a lot of coffee. Mondays were always bad because I often went away for weekend rock

$10 for a sapling is extremely cheap. That's more in the line of what you can expect to pay for a 2 year old seedling (ref: https://monroecd.org/tree-sale-2024/ ). But I agree. I've planted 10k+ seedlings
