Even at the end of my 28 year career, my resume was only two pages. I continually edited it down. The older stuff, probably no longer relevant stuff, was reduced to just a few words. For anything older than 4 years, only a sentence descr

I've been using Feedly ever since Google Reader went away. It's easy to add my own sources. I don't know anything about force-fed news sources; I've never seen anything like that.

A Dollar General store opened this spring in my small rural town. Before it opened there was only a Ray's grocery store with a huge markup. I, and everybody with time and a car, used to drive 45+ minutes into town. I'm very pri

> one bored Microsoft programmer has built a Twitter bot Hmm, I'm not sure I would want to be labeled, in public, as a "bored Microsoft programmer." His manager is wondering "Did he write this on Microsoft time?"

I use Mr. Number on my Android phone. If the calling phone number is marked as Spam in it's database, it'll display that as the call is ringing. It can also be configured to "block" Spam calls, but that means ring once

The cordless mowers appear to be getting better and better. With my new yard full of beds, trees, and other obstacles, half the mowing time is time managing the cord. So, I'm buying a Ryobi battery operated 21" lawnmower.

Push reel lawnmowers perform poorly unless the grass is completely dry. If the grass is damp, the mower doesn't get enough traction and slides. So, here in the PNW, I switched to a corded electric mower and now I'm not so restri

I was a Swing developer (and loved it). Distributing Swing applications was never a major issue. The issue was that once the web hit, all my co-workers wanted to do web applications and convinced management web was where it was at.

Your comment reminds me of the class responsibility discussions we used to have. Should we have gasStation->fillUp(vehicle) or vehicle->fillUp(gasStation)? There is no right answer and depends on the situation.
