How is that relevant to this thread in which I am saying that the parsing/lexing as described in the link is very outdated? Maybe you should start a separate discussion.

That's more hyperbole. You're putting a lot of responsibility on some simple tools. Programming language design complexity came first and not as a result of yacc or lex.

Hmm, I wrote a VHDL (a superset of ADA used for hardware design) front end using bison and flex. That's a serious language. Regarding error messages, if one implements the grammar as specified by the language spec, yes, confusing and

It really wasn't how compilers were constructed in '96 either. I was very into compilers in the late 80's and even then we didn't handwrite lexers or parsers. I was using bison and flex around '89.

I remember when /r/politics was full of conservatives, right-wingers, the tea party, what have you. People would ask them to elaborate on their position, ask for references, or point out the flaws in their logic. The response?

Infrastructure costs far far outweigh tax increases. Portland's East Side Big Pipe built to reduce the amount of sewage going into the river cost $1.4 billion paid by real-estate taxes.

That's not true. More homes require more/better infrastructure (e.g. water, sewage, roadways). Infrastructure improvements cost massive amounts of money meaning tax increases.

It'd be nice if he explained why he chose to include each book on the list. I think the section where he lists books that he'd like to reread is the most important section.

I realized a few years ago that not knowing anyone at a party is better than going to a party knowing everyone and not wanting to talk to a single one of them.

But what do Freemasons do? How do I know if I'm right for the organization?

I disagree. Something rarely needed like FFT should not be included in any stdlib. Keeping it out too allows better control and more frequent releases.

Weird that there is no punk or post-punk songs. For example, God Save the Queen by the Sex Pistols and California Über Alles by the Dead Kennedys.

It's a problem going the other way too. I drive an older vehicle and rented a car. I nearly had to ask the attendant how to start the car. Then I was entirely surprised when I stopped at a light and the engine turned off.

Numerous times. The worst was the time it when the only employee maintaining a little-used product was fired for sexual harassment. I transferred to the position not knowing anything about the product or the lack of developer knowledge.

That's a lot of negative assumptions you're making. And, IMHO, still not enough to warrant or in line with saying "that's almost the same as not having support at all."

Flutter allows the use of plugins which, through glue code, allow using native code and existing libraries. It's pretty comparable functionally to Java's JNI.

Car horns are much louder than these "introduced" noises. Interestingly, at low speeds the internal combustion noises are sufficient to alert pedestrians and bikers, but at high speeds, it's the tire noise that is loudest.

Many of the active outdoors people I know (mostly mountain bikers) are superkeen on converted Sprinter vans. I think as more active boomers retire, there will be a resurgence of small RVs.

Anybody here remember the pet rock fad of the 70's? The more interesting question to me regarding silly fads like pet rocks, droopy pants, and "Baby On Board" stickers is how they begin.
