Some of the examples of bad design mentioned in the article are quite shocking, if we are assuming 'medical student' is not some 18 year old rookie but a person who already has several years of university level study behind them.

Don't recall my old nexus devices having ads in the OS. Disappointing where Google has taken this.

Here's an article from outside the tech sector, which I am linking to as a corroboration since this is quite surprising for those of us unfamiliar with German law. https://www.thelocal.de/20260504/how-a-google-maps

There are several different definitions of that word, some of which would reasonably apply to hn. I am glad it doesn't have infinite scroll but it also (front page) changes fairly slowly so I do not develop an urge to check it every fe

In the towns yes. A wealthy city man could expect to live fewer years than a labourer in the countryside.

Do you mean to imply a political/social revolution? In any other scenario I can think of when my boss gets a new machine, he captures the value from my increased productivity or the machine eliminates my job entirely.

The fact Royal Mail is privatised seems irrelevant since whoever you shipped with in Finland decides how it will get to the UK. I order things like band merch from Europe and have never had a problem receiving in the UK.

In the digital age corporations can and do confiscate things we thought we owned. Amazon removing paid-for kindle books, devices getting bricked, paying a recurring fee to use some features in your car.

That sneaker company that pivoted to data centers set the 'weird' bar pretty high. GameStop has physical stores so could be a place to send, collect from or even verify high value eBay items.
