Would be interesting to know how many users are using MSN - seeing numbers over 300 million reported in 2010. Wonder if Skype can handle the traffic?

All fine except for one thing. Your typical restaurant owner would rather run their business rather than create high quality online content. They typical lack marketing resources. Menus today are simple / easy / quick to produce. If you wan

CodeHS looks pretty good; logo-esque from first glance. I see a problem though... As a parent having tried everything I can find (logo, scratch, hackety hack, invent with python, straight PHP programming etc. etc.) to teach my kids (current

The reason why the "machines are winning" is most of the humans are held back by idiotic corporate structures and processes. Take HR for example; I've yet to see an HR department deliver real value that boosted performance.

IMO with the Guardian you'd be wrong - them and the NYTimes are the two leading the way in transforming newspapers online. They've yet to find the Holy Grail for their future business but things like their data blog have been groundbreaking

Also like how it doesn't reward obsessive / addictive behavior. Burning additional hours and mileage won't get you that much further then a few well-timed hours a week. And staying up all night playing Ingress will cost you the way sitting

I've tried various means of getting my kids (both under 10) programming and the fundamental hurdle is they don't want to sit at a keyboard long enough to make any progress. 15 minutes is about the limit for attention - if there's no reward,

I didn't read that in his post. He seemed mostly to be troubled by how easily the process can be derailed by going off topic on getting lost in details.

As a half English, half German who's had a fair bit of professional contact with the US, I'd argue the main difference between the US and Germany is short term vs. long term thinking The US is brilliant at the short term, as characterized b

You have to begin where users needs are being ignored. With Firefox is was performance. IMO on mobile privacy is the topic that's most critical for users and most ignored by vendors. If Firefox OS can fill that space it might have a chance

As far as I know, it's not possible - passing a device ID tithe browser would be a privacy disaster. You could use something like PhoneGap if you want to develop your app in HTML5 while having access to native APIs

I have kids. I'm happy they _always_ ask for a password... Free apps can be malicious e.g giving away location to parties unknown. But still you're right - this could be an option users can decide.

For the iPad it's no problem - we have a universal app but you're right - it's not a pretty approach and we have quite a few customers asking. Mostly it's the "desktop bound" ones that want it e.g. the receptionist at the dentist.

Agreed. But for many cases you don't need something that secure like when you're posting pictures of cats. And many web based logins are not providing a great deal of security either - this approach may actually be an improvement as it make
