A few openstack projects also use them, to explicitly define the transitions there resources (and/or other objects) will go through in a controlled manner. http://docs.openstack.org/developer/ironic/dev/s

I try to (and I work in 5+ opensource projects/libraries). It's a two-way street here, the users need to also listen and engage with the developers. So don't forget that to, opensource people (especially if they are doing it

That other big opensource project (the one called linux) I think would disagree with you, its management style might be different (more of a hierarchy with linus at the top) but saying 'when too many players with overlapping vested int

Yes, I think they are getting better (at what rate, I can not measure, but forward progress IMHO). One example; the project/group I work in ( https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Oslo ) basically is a bunch of well-known

A (python) library that does alot of this (the parallelism, data-flow, flow construction from task units, remote execution, resumable execution...). I'm one of the authors, it's used in various openstack projects (and more)... Thi

Out of curiosity where did these 4 sequential openstack deployment failures and rollbacks happen? Would whoever this is be willing to share 'their story' (because if they do they can help, the software matures and get better, if t

I'm well aware of all you have state, difficulties, to many cooks... [I'm one of the top 3 contributors to openstack right now]; but what u have just described IMHO is applicable to all projects that gain momentum (I mean look at

Correction, openstack dropped python 2.6 support in its kilo release, you can of course run python 2.7 on centos6.x/rhel6.x (and I know companies doing this, including godaddy and yahoo) via a variety of manners, and then openstack wil

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is a fallacy, you have just turned yourself (the programmer) into the context switching routine that the operating system (or python itself) does for you. IMHO computers are good (and can be m
