Because slow governments didn’t manage to set an open standard for what they require so that every little court can verify if the verification approach is valid, so once again there’s a need to trust a brand name, rather than having fair co

Not having access to a good R environment at work is one big reason. At the company I work at there’s a pypi mirror with quite recent packages and it works out of the box - for R there’s only an ancient version and some hacks to get it to w

It should be much simpler to make changes to the manufacturers software, since they all come with the GPL notice. It’s so silly things that don’t work, e.g. the guest network not really being separated. I’ve found it very hard to get a dece

Is this the only viable solution today? Fully opt in to a provider that isn’t user friendly? For a free service maybe ok, but then you typically shouldn’t have the bot problem to such an extent if it’s small enough. For a paid service: no w

I have a regular phone number in Singapore from a new range of numbers that doesn’t work with many services, even with some government services. Customer care typically replies by having me first prove that the number is real (by showing a

You buy a copy of the game that is expected to run with the hardware defined - no end date. If they’d change the button and add an explanation that the license can be revoked at any time without notice or reason, then my argument would be i

(Not a lawyer) You could probably sue in some jurisdictions, since a main aspect of the contract was not clearly advertised. If it has a buy button for game xyz you should assume you’re buying the game, not a license, even if the fine print

Singapore takes the big bin approach like in the US. Europe has arguably too many bins in some places to be practical (Switzerland, though they charge so much on mandatory regular garbage bags that people still sort out, but it feels like a

That’s what I love about New York, don’t follow static rules that don’t make sense, otherwise you won’t be able to deal with such a complex system.

Since it’s all mixed (which would be nice if done right because it simplifies the process) but so badly that it’s difficult to separate it seems more like a way to avoid clogged rubbish chutes.

In general, there are so many conflicts of interest in the google ecosystem and good alternatives (though not as well integrated). Even if it’s less convenient it’s good to be open to other options and actively try to use and improve them.
