I doubt Metro can keep the money. There is an escheatment law whereby unclaimed money will need to be turned over to the state. It is a big hassle to them IMHO.

Not true at all. You can always look for projects that interest you and start to contribute: browse github and knock yourself out. For entry level jobs, as long as you can show adequate knowledge in a certain technology, I don't think

Even within a company, this is largely a function of what your project is, and how your boss treats you. If the project is challenging, new (no historical shit to clean up) and your boss takes good care of you, yes, great fun it is
