Someone who used to be a Googler once told me: "A group of great engineers lead by a terrible manager will never succeed but a team of mediocre engineers lead by a great manager just might." I don't think anyone doubts Google

I've entertained very similar ideas myself. It's one of those things I often revisit -- wondering if I had made the right career choice. I love being an engineer and have been very lucky in being financially rewarded for doing som

I think it just means it's unnecessary. Just disarm the warhead (or inert it) and shut off the torpedo like they describe in the article. The donating part is pointless.

You should read up on what Chiang's strategy. He knew that Japan can no way take China quickly enough and that Japan was still too weak to defeat a major Western power. He realized where Japan had won in China in the past was because C

But that's not a problem unique to China. Historically people from stronger/wealthier nations have underestimated others in poorer nations, especially when the poorer country is on the defense. Mongols vs. Vietnam, UK vs. Maori, J

Did anyone else notice John Ousterhout's name pop up in the article? He's the same person who created RAFT and the first implementation of log structured file system, among other things. That's one hell of a career. https:&#
