Never heard of three year contracts. It's been a long time since I signed any two year contract. Most contracts I have (Internet, Gas, Energy, ..) are annual contracts. My mobile contract is cancelable monthly.

Uhm. Without Internet they can't take tests from home unless you mail it to them - at that point cheating becomes much easier by just meeting up with your buddies and doing the test together.

Ugh,.. same with Facebook. They reach out to me every 2-3 months and every time I tell them that I live in Germany and I'm only looking for remote jobs. "Thanks we'll update that in our system"

I'm so sorry to hear that has happened to the team behind hyperscan. It's truly a fantastic library and has helped us speed up some of our regex heavy workloads write drastically. I even spent some time writing about hyperscan bot

I honestly just want UI configurability. The start menu is so utterly useless that I wish I could disable it and replace it with something like Alfred from MacOS.

It took me a good week of really focussing on reading and comprehension to get my brain rewired to going slowly. I was very much in the same boat of constantly skimming through paragraphs of sci-fi books without actually taking in what I wa

Switzerland is interesting. There's no way for a plane to get to it without crossing EU airspace.. I wonder how that plays out.

Going from free tier to "our cheapest plan is $8k/year" is quite a big leap. Vimeo is obviously completely within their rights, but their pricing strategy is questionable from a small content creator's perspective.

The startup I worked for had Spanish speaking cleaning staff. I even brushed up my Spanish to greet them - the smiles on their faces are with me to this day. It wasn't what I was going for but I'm happy that it had this effect.

This article confuses me. Why does it make the scientists out to be on opposite sides of the aisle? A giraffe that wins a neck to neck fight is also one that may have better chances of finding food high up a tree when resources are scarce -
