Yup, $10k/year and $.15/unit. It doesn't look like it's mandatory, though; the language on the site[0] is really hard to decipher. I imagine that they're not going to prosecute one guy for using a chip in his personal build. Obviously the R

App Engine has this problem too. The solution is to run a cronjob somewhere (App Engine has cron built in, so I've used that in the past) that hits your frontend every ~10 minutes or so. Instances never go stale, and on App Engine, you get

The point about links is that other people can profit by posting links on your site. Before Ad(Words|Sense), you could freely allow people to post links in comments (without having to worry about nofollow or anything) because people would o

Except you would get the harmonics at 120Hz, 180Hz, 240Hz, 300Hz, etc.; there are some harmonics that are going to be within voice frequency that you wouldn't be able to filter out easily without taking out some of the body of the voice. It

It sounds goofy, but wash your pillowcase or put something clean over it. Even for people with really bad acne, washing your pillowcase can make it so much better. This discussion[0] on reddit goes into it more; that's where I learned the t

+1. Columbia is the same way; you're surrounded by talented people who don't need to be stressed, but they choose to be. A lot of people try to do everything (which many are used to from high school) and most find that it's too much too lat

Someone can still throw in an #undef __YOUR_HEADER_H__ somewhere, and while that may be playing with fire, the spec says that the header file should be included again. There's so many corner cases (and ifdefs are used for so much more than

This is how trademarks are supposed to work; "The Oatmeal" and "Oatmeal Studios" are similar and it's reasonable to think that consumers could confuse the two. At the very least, it's way more legitimate than the FunnyJunk crap.

You would be able to find their wallet address, but good practice is to use a different wallet address for each person you send payments to. The blockchain doesn't keep track of IP addresses to preserve anonymity.

This sounds like it's a bunch of GPIO ports connected to a PC over serial, and a nice Python module that runs on the PC. It's not Python-on-a-microcontroller (they never claim it is, but that's the assumption I made upon seeing the website)

For users that want to just use the internet like the author of this article, I think that Chromebooks are quickly becoming a really great option. No crapware, comes with what you need to get online and nothing more, tons of battery life, t

Instead of thinking of him as a statistician who works for a newspaper, think of him as a statistically-minded journalist. I wish _more_ people did what he did: apply scientific reasoning to national and global issues.

My experience with this: Think of a random word that comes to mind: let's try "animus". "No Matches Found. Please rephrase your query and try again.". Hm, okay. How about "theory"? "No Matches Found." What about "set"? Nope. "rank"? No. "wa

In this article[0], Guido says: > We already have sum(); I'd happily trade reduce() for product(), so that takes care of the two most common uses. product() never made it in as a builtin; anyone know why? [0]: http://www.artima.com/web

I think it'd be nice if it were an endomorphism, though; Making map(f, tuple) -> tuple, map(f, list) -> list, etc. would save users from having to write tuple(map(f, tuple)) (which is something I've done a bunch).

Note that `reduce` has been, if not deprecated, then at least discouraged (not that I agree with this, but reduce gets taken away in Python 3, so it's probably good form to stop using it). The author does `reduce(operators.add, lst)` a lot;

This is not true for App Engine. You can create a "staging" version of your app and access it at staging.my-app.appspot.com. It all runs on the same infrastructure that your main version runs on, and it's easy enough to make it admin-only.

The torrents I add aren't being downloaded; they've been stuck at 0% for around 20 minutes now. Is it just under heavier-than-usual load? Edit: never mind, working as expected now.
