Heck, even as a software developer, which HN heavily skews to, how would we measure productivity? Many fields are very creatively driven, it's incredibly difficult to put a number on it. Lines of code? That was shown to be a total fail

Is this really normal for web developer? I don't work in web dev, but I would absolutely not put up with this for only a 100k salary and getting paid roughly one grand for an interview process that takes in total days. Reason why is be

This is blatantly false for embedded systems developers. We spend all day with computers, key being multiple computers, all which require tons of space.

This varies extremely across various states and cities. If you live in new York city for example, to incoroerate an llc, you need to take out a section in a news paper to say you created an llc of name so and so, every day, for like a week,

Sadly as populism continues to rally across Europe, I cannot imagine this getting better anymore soon. Especially since populism tends to lean heavily towards very short term and shallow solutions instead of long term permanent ones.

That's a very weird typo for language. Usually we can tell what word was meant if some letters are missing from what I understand, but for some reason this one was surprisingly bad.

The 3570k is not hyper threaded from what I understand. If it was, I would have been thrilled because I am still using that professor myself, waiting for the new threadripper.

But it is us who are actually performing the "consumerism". It is us who buys tons of garbage and then throw it out. It is us who continue to buy gas guzzlers and wanting to live grossly inefficient lifestyles via living in suburb

I live in NYC and live pretty much my entire life in dense urban cities. Why on earth would I need to know how to make a tent, tell the time via the sun, or other things you probably view as crucial like starting a fire or knowing how to fi

Yes! I am shocked that almost no one seems to comment on power consumption for these units. Sure, they cost $200 while being just as fast as $700 machines, but they can easily pull $50 a month in power, assuming 25 cents per kwh. Not only i

How on earth are you going to get farming local in NYC? Where? Thinking that making all roofs farms will make even a small dent is absurd, especially since it would be competing with solar.

Who cares about the culture? The in efficiency due to the lack of a common language is large, standardizing on a language would be an amazing boost to productivity and pushing humanity forward.

The diffirence is intent and/or gross negligence. Storing passwords in plain text in a database requires a gross lack of security mentality in both design stages and implementation changes. It is also drilled into people's brains
