Exactly. Contrast that with another oil rich country that did something: Norway.

I remember when SA and UAE wanted to build fabs in the middle east in their never ending effort to diversify away from oil. They soon realized they don’t have the workforce without importing skilled labor. SA has one of the [hardest-to-moti

I still don’t understand why people use Shopify. And on top of that people equate them to being the next Amazon. Boggles my mind.

That used to be case when you had to clear certain hurdles to IPO and stay listed. With the recent SPAC craze you no longer have to meet any of those. All you need is a credible narrative. In that environment, no, you shouldn’t expect stoc

If US govt banned bitcoin and the exchange of it to USD, bitcoin will go to zero. And no one will be willing to defend it because it’s quite literally backed by nothing tangible or intangible.

Except bitcoin derives its value from...USD. It’s there because you can buy and sell with...USD. You see where I am going?

So they’re buying bitcoins with the money generated from their payment business. This is far worse than any toys Zuckerberg ever bought for Facebook (except for Libre).

I am convinced Nvidia is deeply involved in the crypto space more so than they care to admit. I can’t wait until Apple matches or surpasses Nvidia so we don’t have to listen to Jensen’s lies quarter after quarter about how insignificant cry

I am convinced being a skilled machinist with proper engineering background will be one of the hottest career tracks in the next couple of decades. Seems demand for small batch production is only going to increase.

I don’t think it does any of the things you mentioned. It’s a vehicle for speculations and money laundering.

Think more interesting number would be total paid-in capital. That would be a better metric to gauge the baseline value. My guess is it’s closer to $10-20B.

Second US stimulus package plus inflation fears in recent weeks. A lot of it is speculation to be fair. As gold didn’t perform and lagged bitcoin, most institutional players bet on bitcoin instead.

I would like to see a polished Python package for data, math, and science, similar to Mathematica. Or perhaps Wolfram can start supporting Python? I’d actually use that over Pandas/Conda.

The same thing happened in March 2020. r/wsb was filled with people holding spy puts when VIX hit 80. They kept saying diamond hands as if the entire market is going to zero because of “quad witching” expiry. It’s a recurring theme.

This is why I think a big land grab will happen for ETH. And even though I think bitcoin is grossly overvalued, ETH could accelerate and possibly surpass bitcoin in terms of paid-in capital. PoS, at least in theory, creates future cash flow

Just a very noob question here. When carbon is released into the atmosphere where and how does it disperse? Can we expect it to gradually concentrate in lower elevations or in certain geographical traps?
