Me too! I find my speech center just turns off, and I'm quite unwilling to speak even when spoken too. I expect some people find this zombie mode rude, but you can't please everyone and hey that software ain't gonna write its

His demos only work with small amounts of code, scale up to the size of a real codebase and they all become infeasible, as well as not really that useful.

From someone from the UK, $100,000 seems like an enormous amount within 6 years of leaving university. Is that sort of thing even possible here?

Math being hard has always confused me; spend just one hour learning computer vision algorithms or neural networks and you'll find them to be very mathematical. It even explains nature so well, what with fibonnacci and so on. So why do

You mistake what I mean, I meant that the sites that came after appeared more technical to the end user. Also those examples you give came before Facebook (mostly? Haven't even heard of some), which Facebook beat by providing a bette

Facebook managed to beat out it's competitors to the top spot, and maintain that spot long enough to the point where it has just become a constant in people's minds now. Every other attempt to dethrone has been too technical minde

People love to hate Facebook and Twitter, but they ain't going anywhere. The service they provide is too useful, and after so many years they are ingrained in people's social lives.

If you making any sort of product it's a great way to reach your audience (speaking as a game dev here). Also I can follow other dev progress as they post updates to their feed, which I find really interesting! Some people post great s

I'm still so undecided whether to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10. On the one hand a free upgrade to the latest OS is so very tempting, but then I read about how there is no privacy, people calling the installation malware, and the ugly f

This is actually really interesting to me. I use C# for side projects and often write Debug.Assert everywhere to check things, but can't quite bring myself to throw exceptions for full blown errors. I just find they add a lot of bloat,

You're right the experience isn't great, that doesn't stop people trying though. There are many mobile IDEs too that try all sorts of different layouts, but they are all an exercise in frustration at the end of the day. I thi

Do you have any practical examples of what you mean? It seems obvious, but getting a computer to understand requirements, and also solve for them and build a realistic 3d model? Seems like an impossible task for current technology.

I've recently written a Blender addon using Python that came to just over 1000 LOC. Not big at all and yet already I was running into problems that are just non existent in static languages. I couldn't refactor variable names and

What a poor article, it doesn't go into any specifics or give reasons for why you should eat this or avoid that. The whole article really boils down to 'don't eat bad food, eat good food.' On another note, I've re

Agile is no magic bullet. Additionally 'change' means a very different thing when you are talking about in-flexible data (3d models, textures, animation etc), and usually means throwing the data away completely and starting over.

I think you might be missing the point of the article. The metric for measuring a game's success is how fun it is to play. You can't plan fun, that only comes from having a playground and tweaking things until the game play feels

Yep this is probably the biggest failing in the modern workplace; expecting employees to be able to sit down all day and be productive. I found in those environments you just end up pretending to be productive a lot of the time.
