It seems like if you're a small brand, like Fuse Chicken, you should be able to become the exclusive supplier of your own product on Amazon. For anyone else you sell your product to, include a "this may not end up on Amazon"

Maybe I am just not getting it, but I don't love the physical barrier in bike lanes. When there is some obstruction (trash, a pothole, etc) in the bike lane I can't get out of the way. I like the white posts for this reason. I c

First of all this looks pretty nice. I'm a docs nerd and as a whole I like this. However ... It's slow. Docs should be static HTML. I should not ever wait for text content. If you want to async load some images or embeds that&

I'm not sure if Uber/Lyft put more cars on the road, but I'm sure that Uber and Lyft drivers do things that cause traffic. Many analyses of traffic have shown that individual drivers can cause huge downstream traffic effects.

The code style is fine, it's practical. But how about what it does? Has anyone ever tried to collapse or expand a 100+ comment thread here? It can lag for 1-2s. So all the talk of "it's simple code that serves its purpose&

Ive been doing developer relations at Google for 4+ yrs now and the points about code snippets in this article are great. Let me add another one though. Find a way to pull your code snippets from real code. What I mean is, write the code s

I wish more big stocks (looking at you, tech giants) paid regular dividends instead of buybacks. It gives me a real, irrevocable return on my investment and benefits all shareholders equally (on a per share basis). The stock market seems t

Yeah but I don't get paid by the hour and the bus was technically "personal time". I worked on the bus only in 5-10 truly urgent situations per year. I've also noticed that I now stay at the office later than I used to

Anyone know how this compares to Metromile? I see a lot of my friends who have cars in San Francisco switching to that and saving money. Aside: I thought this was going to be about cybersecurity insurance. Root insurance would be a great

Many times when we believe a job is bullshit we are falling victim to the paradox of the library. Go to your favorite library. Take one book and destroy it. Is it still a library? Yes, of course. Destroy three more ... still a library.

Those are some nice benefits, but a commute is still mostly a waste. I did the infamous SF to Mountain View commute on "The Google Bus" for two years. It's about as decent as a 1.5hr commute can be, you're on a quiet pri

I just kind of figured we'd stop having UI lag by now. I work on a 24 core workstation with 64GB of RAM and things lag all the time. Not slow to complete, like jittery key entry and non-responses. Haven't we figured out thread p

This sounds like a great idea, let's take it a little further and spread some equity around. If you come in every single day and spend the best hours of your life working towards a company's goals, why shouldn't you share at

I work at Google and no it's not easy for us either. I've heard many of my coworkers joke that if they went through the interview process again they'd probably fail. That said I see two kinds of interviewers. One kind (the g

This is a pretty poorly presented article. There are good points for and against DAFs but they're hard to find in here. And backing up, I feel like we don't often question the idea of giving nearly unlimited tax breaks for charit

Super cool! I do wish it would be released as two libraries though. One in pure JS that does the image manipulation. And another that binds the base library to Vue. Would make it more broadly useful.

In some languages / project structures you need a way for internal components to connect that happens to be "public" but is not meant for public use. I see this a lot in Java libraries, for instance.

I think these days we spend 50% of our time in web apps which are OS independent. And a lot of the rest (for developers) is in cross-platform editors with customizable keybindings. I use both macOS and Ubuntu every day and have no issues s
