iCloud+ seemed like a great value proposition for people migrating from Workspace, but there are quite a few hangups. Seems like Microsoft hits a good middle ground. Completely off topic, but why do people think having a sticky header indic

Playing devil's advocate, given the choice between trusting a random developer to keep their keys private or Google to keep their keys private, I'd probably side with Google. Yeah that doesn't help with coercion or governmen

Bingo. Exactly what I thought when I saw this. Of course these orgs have their own infra monitoring, but technically anybody can monitor them and then claim to do so.

Very clean, would be nice to have an easy "export" function if users want to host it themselves.

Might it be misophonia? Might be if you have what seems like an extreme over-reaction to outsiders or haven't realized you may have Misophonia and can't figure out why you're feeling tension or "anxiety" for no appa

Potentially. Google also stills updates AOSP too, so you're not 100% reliant on LineageOS et al for these updates. There's nothing stopping you from grabbing those blobs out of Google's AOSP images and updating them, but ther

LineageOS backports security patches when possible, including kernel-related ones since they ship their own kernel. Firmware doesn't include kernels, generally speaking.

Does having the ability to compile and build it yourself allay any of those concerns? It means you no longer need to trust the infrastructure or machines being used to create the images, just the developer through their source code which, y

My $200 Monoprice MP Select Mini has been going for the past 5+ years with no maintenance (I know) and was an absolutely great purchase. Yeah it's not open source hardware, but attach a Pi to it with OctoPrint, and it's a great lo

You can still develop for Pebble, even though the entire thing is EoL. There are lots of Pebble enthusiasts and work is still being done on the platform through Rebble. There's also Bangle.js to keep an eye on.

I really hope HN never changes, so rare to see see something so true, yet insane to the average person at the same time. This OS on a phone is "close to daily driver" and yet phone calls don't work. I mean this not as a sligh

I'm still rocking a Pebble 2SE every day, with 2 more in storage for when this one dies. Keep an eye on Bangle.js 2 and PineTime for possible replacements.

I recently wrote my first Android (and iOS) app, and decided on React Native. I just wanted to make something quickly, cross platform, and easy to understand -- React Native fit the bill. No affiliation, but Expo made it very easy and FAST
