I think new generation using tiktok for search had more impact than AI. The current issue with chatGPT is the freshness of the data, accuracy second to that. If they manage to constantly feed their model with new data then it might be a tr

I'm a postgres fan but I have to admit the JSON syntax is not the best and not well supported by all the tooling around this database. Doesn't mean it's bad but the DX could be better. Other than that, I have never seen a pro

Tracing is much more actionnable but barely usable without a platform. Which makes local programming dependent on third party. Also it requires passing context or have a way to get back the context in every function that requires it, which

RabbitMQ is one the most impressive technology I have ever used I think. It's simple, efficient and reliable. In 10 years, I have never seen a crash or a bug, even with heavy load.

The article is focusing on AI and teams messages for some reason, but the exposed bucket had password, ssh keys, credentials, .env and most probably a lot of proprietary code. I can't even imagine the nightmare it has created internall

4.8 million frames per second is wild. Currently the phantom can achieve I think 1.5M fps in black and white with a "postal stamp" resolution. I wonder what resolution this camera could output but I guess it's probably smalle

I don't know much about GPS, but I always assumed it was a passive tech. What is consuming battery in that case?

For those wondering if it's truly representative, it's estimated that 50% of the inflation in Europe is due to margin increase not bc of the inflation itself. https://www.imf.org/en/Blogs/Articles/20

I don't think the data is very "scientific", e.g: slack was officially launched in 2014 and got immediate traction. Yes there were 4 years of development but it wasn't even the product they wanted to sell.

I don't think they are really competing with nginx. They are just in the sweetspot between convenience vs performance.

Yep not complaining about the implementation, just it's not the mental model you have when you begin using Databases. It took me many years to understand this bit.

Good article, love the codesanbdox! I often disregard yield because it's basically the same as having an `await for/of` or `while await` and it's not that clear for beginners.

Vacuuming is such a complex task in optimize in Postgres. Depending on your access pattern you will need to also configure index with conditions and/or partitioning (on top of sane vacuuming settings). And when you realise that Update

1¢ per 1minute is fair as it would take the best translator much more time than that. 1¢ per sql query seems less fair to me, but we could argue it would also cost more to ask a dev.

I mean yes, I have managed BigQuery jobs that cost thousand of dollars per run but the actual call is not the thing that is expensive and I'm in control of what it costs me. It's not exactly the same scenario imo

The cost per question seems super high. I can't even think of an API where a single call would cost $1cent. You better have a good pricing model to follow up on this.
