Note that the submission is not about IPFS itself ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InterPlanetary_File_System ), but about Decentralized Cloud, which is a project that is built on top of IPSF.

I'm on Fx 56.0.1, but I already enabled the date/time functionality in about:config (key: dom.forms.datetime). I think you can enable the time picker by toggling dom.forms.datetime.timepicker on. It's on for me, but it isn&#x

I agree it's not a perfect metaphor. I do think Xanadu is an extreme case of The Right Thing style of thinking, even if Xanadu would never have actually been Right: the creator still thought of it that way, and IMO that is one of the c

We don't really have those folk intuitions. That is just our cultural baggage. No form of property is universal. No form of intellectual property existed until the 17th century, and it took until the 20th century before it IP worked th

This is basically UUIDv4, encoded with a url-safe variant of base64 (except UUIDv4 reserves a few bits for saying "this is a UUID, specifically version 4").

The parent didn't call you a concern troll, though. They said "this is some top-level concern trolling". Criticizing behaviour is not the same thing as name calling or personal swipes.

Assuming the internet has been growing exponentially since the beginning and will continue to do so indefinitely. IPv4 has 32 bits and lasted us 34 years so far. Let's call it 32 years. Address space would need a nice and tidy 1 bit ex

I think namedtuple is a terrible hack that never should have been (at least not this way), but changing it is going to be a PITA.

Namedtuple is used a lot in the standard library to return struct-like results which used to be returned as an actual tuple, so making them non-indexable would break a lot of code, some of which was written before namedtuple even existed.

`is` is also useful for things like detecting cycles for walking object graphs. But I'd estimate 99% of the times I've used `is` was for comparisons to `None`, and 90% of the rest of times for comparisons to other sentinel values.

It's more that a lot of people really don't care one way or another, and will neither go out of their way to opt-in or opt-out. Additionally, it's not that Mozilla just disregards user privacy here: differential privacy bei

That is certainly one definition and use case of heuristics. Another example might be the travelling salesman problem, where we know how to calculate the exact solution for every instance, but it is prohibitively expensive (unless P=NP). Th

A heuristic is always an algorithm. What's important is what is it a heuristic for and what is it an algorithm for (by which I mean: what function does it approximate and compute, respectively). If algorithm A is a heuristic for f(

Exactly. Another way of looking at it: If we have a function f(x), we can have an algorithm that computes f(x). In fact, there are an infinite number of algorithms that compute f(x). But there are also an infinite number of algorithms that

So this is something I found interesting: The number of rules is listed in the TFA as O(sqrt(n)/log(sqrt(n)), which is the same as O(sqrt(n)/log(n)), and slightly better than O(sqrt(n)), which is the number of rules needed if you
