I regret that I have but one up-arrow to click on for this comment. Google does this annually and they get criticized for it every time. Yahoo does it at the behest of their new ex-Googler CEO and now it's a great idea.

If supervising unaccompanied minors is too hard, they're under no requirement to offer the service. They offered the service and then they screwed up delivering it. I don't see why you should be sympathetic.

Also, to be more serious, Pocket PC once ran on top of two processor families, so if you think fragmentation with a VM is bad, it's a lot worse when you have to build two binaries and try to explain to users which one they need to install.

Per other commenters, this is basically a hit piece on Google by claiming that Google does something that it doesn't do to promote the author's own company which seeks to improve hiring.

This is great, but I'm not sure if it's actually any less complicated than installing DD-WRT or Tomato.

Who cares how much RAM it has? RAM is dirt cheap. Phones should have 10x that much memory.

On it getting cold at 4 PM, I quote the estimable "30 Rock": "Can’t hack it in the big city? Gonna move to the Bay Area now, pretend that was your dream the whole time? Have fun always carrying a light sweater."
