yes there's a lot of monitoring services but in the end they mostly cluster around 2 groups: - easy setup but nothing more than http monitoring - complex platforms that can monitor everything but are expensive and a pain to setup

basically you can do manually everything that could be automated, and should be automated if high volume. - Manually send user welcome email, trial expiration email, etc... - Manually fix some errors although the process could be automated.

i keep it simple with an uptime monitoring service that monitors all the elements of my stack and run tests every minute: - regular http monitoring for websites - run test queries on my sql & mongo databases - check that rabbitmq queues
