It's pretty crazy how quickly it happened/happens. The Deppenapostroph is maybe less problematic; I see it more as a simplification just like the dative replacing the genitive. But Denglish really just makes everything harder to u

If you like OpenSCAD but want a fillet or two and STEP export, Build123d is great also.

Not just you. Best case the tracing ecosystem is weird and the documentation is lacking, but all of the weirdness makes it very performant. Worst case it is weird and badly documented and over-engineered. Since rustc uses tracing I really h

Well, they may be cheap, but that alone doesn't seem enough to me. I guess different people look for different things. I had a Asus ROG Zephyrus G15, and I'd rank it as one of the worst laptops I've ever owned (edit: don&#x27

Not everything makes the news. Could be small town "politics", sheriff or judge elections, police unilaterally deciding not to enforce laws, etc. Maybe you also count healthcare racket as corruption.

I'm a bit torn. While there's something nice about the simplicity of an 8-bit device and DIP packages, I've come to enjoy ARM's Serial Wire Debug, and ARM tooling. Definitely don't miss avr-gcc and avrdude. In a way

You don't discuss why they do it or the downsides. "Google does this" is not good enough of an argument. For the why, could be that the build would be dog slow if a network requests was made for every one of a bajillion depen

Let's keep things in perspective. The avg share of renewables for each month in 2024 has been about 60%. Some weeks have been as high as 75% or as low as 43% [0]. That's all great, no doubt. But nowhere near close to 95% renewable

It's just annoying, and by no means unique to YT. Companies forcing changes upon users, it's going to be adversarial - especially for people who do use it a lot. People do watch shorts, of course. I can see it can be a good fit on

Android is quite a bit more popular than iPhones in the EU (roughly 66% vs 33%). And the iPhone app store is likely the most lucrative one for Apple. So it makes sense to try and isolate it. It will be interesting to see how the iPad affect
