The Schwab mobile app has recently been updated (unsure exactly how recently), and it has got substantially better since I first tried it a couple years ago.

What’s the bit error rate on a card like this? Does anyone know how long 1TB of data would actually last, with zero bit flips, in a drawer? Presumably the primary market is JPG/MPG capture, where a few flipped bits don’t matter.

When you say you powered it off, was that a safe shutdown or did you just pull the power? Most file system drivers delay writes, I suspect some variant of your test (if it was unsafe shutdown) could be reproduced on almost any system.

“Make all fields in a message required. This makes messages product types.” This article was clearly written by amateurs.

A deprecation is, normally, a notification (not the same thing as actually turning something off).

Ha, 248 days is the point at which a 32bit signed int wraps round if counting in milliseconds.

This article seems to be sponsored by Escape the Room, whatever that is, with its own ad-style paragraph. "A less philanthropic but still debauchery-free experience can be had at Escape the Room, an interactive game site where as many

They can't, these solar panels are probably not much more than 20% efficient, so even an extra factor of five doesn't make a dent.

Google and Yahoo!, on the other hand, are very serious, business-like names.

The UI doesn't seem to have been tested, and isn't usable. On my iPhone in safari, when I tap on the search box it JavaScript-scrolls out of view, revealing a picture of a football field that plays a video if clicked accidentally.

Yes they are, you can assert rights on a collection of facts that you have collected. A database containing the location of every tree in the UK would be a piece of protectable intellectual property.

Apart from the fact that the founders clearly didn't intend to fold the company (removing the malice part of a scam), as a consumer, spending $700 on something that stops functioning nearly immediately is pretty indistinguishable from

Not sure this makes sense, when you PWM something like an LED, there is no 'leftover DC power'; the energy unused by the LED each cycle is not wasted.

I find it exceptionally unlikely that the statements in this article are correct. I suspect a phone with the screen lit uses somewhere in the range 0.5-2W continuous. The amount of energy you'd get from a light touch on the screen is,

I doubt strongly that this would have any effect either, for the same reason. My legal knowledge is a little old fashioned and sporadic, but the classic authority on this used to be 'Olley v Marlborough Court Hotel'. Worth a read,

At least in the UK, such a term would have to be brought to your attention before the sale, very clearly, for it to be part of the contract. Writing that in the manual would have no effect.
