I frequently write architectural documents and as a team we find it a very useful way to collaborate. We structure them as RFCs (meant literally, in that the document is designed to solicit comments, and so are often proposals). I've n

As in, the post-2015 unusable MBP keyboards or the nice ones? That might be enough to push me towards the X1 instead of the Lemur although I'd love to get a System76 just to have something from an independent shop from whom I might exp

Really tempted by the System76 machines but my worry is the screen res. My MBP (2014) has 2880x1800 and I really don't want to go down to something less crisp than retina.

I'm not sure this is "ordinary practice", especially as `nan` often refers to "not a number" as an error category. Typing full words doesn't take that much longer than acronyms, and results in more readable cod

We've found Google Meet / Hangouts too unreliable for even small-scale calls (e.g. our daily standups) whereas Zoom has pretty much perfect quality (and the lowest CPU footprint).

This seems to have totally missed the first half of the comment to which you replied: _elegance_ certainly has a place in programming, just as it does in mathematics and many other disciplines. Things that are elegant are often difficult to

Despite the explanatory comment that was added below the line on the article, this doesn't really seem to be a good use for Blockchain per se. 1/ as long as the translation of the physical asset to a digital asset is vulnerable to

I really like https://gwern.net . When I built my own site ( https://www.gtf.io ), I tried to make it as "minimalist" as possible -- fast rendering (v little CSS, no JS, completely static). I wanted it to have

Couldn't agree more -- I have limited time in my life, time I don't want to spend maintaining absolutely every service I use. Very happy to pay someone else to build good software and make the pain go away.

There's a standalone app (if you're not on Linux) and you can sync via dropbox / wifi / rsync / whatever you like.

Very frustratingly, there's no Linux client and they recommend 1PasswordX for Linux users, which doesn't allow offline vaults, pretty sure it _requires_ 1Password's online service.
