I say "promptly at X" when something is going to start at X, and I start it at X and finish it at X + appropriate time, prioritizing stuff I want more than them. I don't say this for everything, but for many things.

Apple developer relations doesn't go round to windows phone developer groups trying to convince people to port apps to their platform. Microsoft DOES go around to iOS devs.

It is nontrivial to make data so anonymous NO ONE can deanonymize it. It's considerably easier to make data anonymous in a way that people acting in good faith to not try to deanonymize it won't realize who is who

Microsoft doesn't think like that. They still make it damn impossible to run the windows phone simulator on Mac (even with a virtual machine, can't run the game part), so no iOS devs bother with the platform.

You want to keep taxi's allowed to use the lanes because then taxis are as fast as renting a car, or owning a car, so you you do not do the above behaviors. If getting to the airport took 2x as long in a taxi, few would use that.

It makes testing software damn hard. You can't justify testing 25 configurations of Linux. There just aren't enough dollars there to justify it. Chromebook and android each present relatively fewer targets to shoot at.

While this is true, owning and testing all the android devices is a lot harder than having a system with many web browsers on it. Also asking customers to upgrade is usually downloading new software for websites, but is buying new hardware
