I was paid $165k a year by a neobank startup to.....build their bank. It's now responsible for over $200mm a year in revenue. I was the sole engineer on the project. Good engineers are worth their weight in gold.

This is my attitude. Come 5pm, the phone goes into a focus mode ignoring work. I ignore any other desktop communications, frequently closing Slack and Superhuman. Disconnecting from work is the only way to stay sane. No one has yelled at me

They make a case that there's a difference between men and women in how much overtime work is put upon them. In my household with my wife and I both working from home with lots of off-hour communications and demands, I see a clear diff

This is why I primarily prefer and frequently am the lead on backend APIs. There's no BS. I spend 90%+ of my time coding and architecting the system. No bickering, etc.. Here's the API, now use it. It's a great little niche.

Probably. Except I don't live in SV. I did for 10 years but now live in Boston. Entirely different environment.

I feel bad for people losing money, but crypto has not lived up to its potential at all, remains a solution looking for a problem, and is an environmental disaster. I used to be a huge believer. Brian Armstrong gave me my first Bitcoin in 2

This. I cannot stand the modern crypto bro. I've met some truly insufferable people. The term "New Money" doesn't even do enough justice to how horrible these people behave.

I got my MBA in '08 so I'm sure some has changed since then. We had an ethics class which focused solely on ethical financial reporting (ala Enron). But for sure we were taught to look at the majority of workers as one might look

Personally, I want to know how much Y Combinator companies have lost in Market Cap in the latest route. Many are trading below their IPO prices and have lost a huge amount of value.

The thing is all of those assets are generally only owned by the top 5% (mostly top 1%) of the wealthy, so in reality, the Fed only serves the interests of the wealthy and everyone else gets screwed.

I can tell you as someone with an MBA, we are not taught to think about workers, or safety, or anything except the bottom line. We are taught to stretch everything to the absolute breaking point, supposedly within the law, all in the name o

Indeed. The Fed is supposed to be politically neutral so for them to be supporting one party's major bill is a clear violation of that. And I fully believe they didn't raise rates earlier for political reasons.

Here, swing this one, a minority of Americans support the President, Democrat policies, and plan to vote for a Democrat in 2022. There's your minority.

Agreed. Also, calling conservatives a minority is misleading since I'd hardly call like 47% a minority. It's technically true, but it's awfully close to even.
