Better alternatives could be one of NodeJS frameworks, Play in Scala and Dropwizard for Java. They could be better in the sense, that I can share a JS library between the API and Frontend or I can share a JVM library between the API/In

Is Rails relevant today in the world of rich front end frameworks other than for legacy applications? I used to be a big fan of Rails but there is a steep learning curve and looks like there are better alternatives now.

This is very similar to Indian culture as well. People get upset if you don't follow Taarof and suddenly won't talk to you without giving any apparent reason. I have seen my Mom analyze social interactions post-mortem to derive ad

I am not sure if my experience would be relevant now, but I moved from India to attend a graduate school and moved on to H-1B etc.

I liked Telegram but all my friends were on WhatsApp, so stuck with WhatsApp for that. I agree on your point that Telegram does not send nasty letters like this.

I would like to dump WhatsApp, any alternatives? I almost switched to Telegram once. No matter how bigger WhatsApp gets, I am glad there are some alternatives.

Seems these kids are going into sedentary lifestyle pretty soon and taking on stress early on in their lives. I would imagine that there would be some negative effects due to that. But some kids might be just right for it.

I don't think the growth will accelerate as the article claims as the barrier to entry is becoming less and less each day. It should be interesting to see how it plays out.

"I know of people who schedule emails to be sent in the middle of the night just so they appear to be working all the time." Why do they do it? Sounds unethical. What sort of industry they are in?

Not sure if I agree. Apple consistently provides better experience because they control both hardware and software. Google is now realizing that or else they wouldn't have built nexus.

This article is too close to home. I am in Chennai now (South India) and I see the sights mentioned in the article every day. Heck!, I got people sleeping on the streets right outside my parent's house doorstep. In the last 10 years or so,
