The star trek universe is not subject to physics in general. Sound traveling without air, time travel, FTL, Newton's Law being ignored, Creating/destroying matter, "beaming" people down to a planet, etc.

Lots of science fiction stories have this concept, but usually they talk about Slower-than-light, multi-generational space ships that takes centuries to reach the next star, only to find that during the last 100+ years, the destination plan

I saw no mention of the security design, so I can only conclude it provides no real privacy.

I used and wrote code for NeWS - the pre-curser for Java. I was also at the talk where Gosling admitted the problems it had. In some cases, a lot of features of Java were in response to the problems with NeWS. NeWS was so awesome when it ca

Yes, but there's a big difference between a one-time demo under ideal conditions, and something that can be mass-produced and used daily. In the case of tires, (1) the car is likely moving, (2) the tires are spinning at the same time,

According to Wikipedia, grep was first used in "Version 4 AT&T UNIX" According to my 1984 Eunice manual, Look was part of the 7th edition of Unix.

I needed a programmable USB foot pedal for my Linux system, as I wanted a hands free way to give a presentation, so I bought one from https://www.delcomproducts.com/webpage.asp?id=32 for $40.

But Google will fix the security flaws automatically. You have to compare this device to the typical home router, which is NEVER updated. And even if you do run an Open Source firmware, you have to make sure it's kept up to date.
