In this case? Hope you have a record of all your filters, then re-implement them using Python's POP or IMAP library. If they fold after demonstrating significant market interest, I'd be happy to set up a competing service with improved usab

There exist algorithms for estimating emotion from facial video. The accuracy is kind of hit or miss, but it's enough for "he's experiencing anxiety during the security search, he must be a terrorist."

For anyone asking the "what startup job will accelerate me towards starting one of my own" question - this is a really good one.

Copy the competition, just don't plagiarize the competition. Competition means there are customers who think X is worth paying money for. Competition means there are customers who already think X is the solution to their problem. But design

No. Context is very important here, and it's actually quite apt with regard to hiring and being hired. Data-driven marketing (DDM) is a huge thing now because it reliably magnifies revenue streams. However, the skill set to execute on such

A good man, and a good engineer. That, more than one small step, made him a hero worthy of being remembered for the phrase "for all mankind." He made me want to be a better man myself, and to build things of more lasting importance.

Good job shipping. That said: I use Goodreads for this. One big feature it provides for me is community curation, so it would be difficult for another service to usurp it at this point. My Goodreads account is also tracking 789 books - well

"Is a -2 Hz wave travelling to the right the same as a 2 Hz save travelling to the right, but going backwards in time?" Yes, all other things being equal. It's a bit less confusing if you leave the signs off and just say that "a wave travel

Physics often uses the sign of a frequency to indicate the direction of travel with regard to a reference frame. E.g. 2 Hz is a wave oscillating two times per second and travelling to the right, -2 Hz is the same travelling to the left. In

Is it just egos, or is there also an impact on SERP rankings and referral traffic? Assuming, for discussion, that it still needed further editing rather than being ready to go.

Probably, but doing so is a bit thorny. A major contributor to the problem is that the primary revenue model tends to be advertising. Ergo, behavior tends to drift towards whatever gets the most hits. Say you decide to attack this by runnin

Here's the paper (PDF): http://physics.aps.org/featured-article-pdf/10.1103/PhysRevL... It's about observations & theory where you can get waves in Cherenkov radiation which propagate against the dominant direction.

The layout looks rational enough in the context of the tiled GUI layout they're trying to push. But the top bar could be a few times thicker. It's too cramped. I tried a quick hack increasing the min-height attribute on hpHdr_PriRow to 50px

I've heard this same result regarding business ebook sales at least half a dozen times. There's a sentiment in tech culture to the effect that we are free thinkers who should be dismissive of obvious sales tactics. But maybe the sales guys

LinkedIn and Facebook can both be pretty good when you need narrow targeting. There are three big issues with using MTurk for business research. You can't do much to refine who you get as respondents, the respondents are incentivized to com
