The article mentions this fact: > Poland had the szlachta, a broad citizen-warrior class that can be thought of as an upper middle class. This amounted to 10% of the population. That might sound like a very limited form of democracy, but

The most definitions include "the rule of law" (and you seem to be mistaken "limited" for "weak"): > "Classical liberalism" is the term used to designate the ideology advocating private property, a

I would imply “human” when “states” are mentioned. My issue is I was expecting an article about world’s population (not much interested in US domestical problems).

"half of the _US_ population" would be more accurate title.

Working effectively is a noble goal by itself, whether you work solo or as a part of a team (corporation may just not be the best form of organization). Being productive can remove the need for “working a lot” if one so desire.

Do you mean that Github shareholders will benefit from users that are hosting their projects on Github? Isn't "content is king" true for all platforms?

Yes, React isn’t _exactly_ jQuery, but it gives the same level of productivity boost comparing to development with just the modern DOM APIs (querySelector, classList, etc).

I imagine this to be food for thought. If, after reading this thread, you'll learn and implement at least one item of that checklist, that would still be a win.

So you can introduce a type system in a module, but you can’t write new version of that module in a different language? To me these seem comparable in scope.

According to [the repo]( https://github.com/tc39/proposals/blob/master/finished-propo... ) only one minor feature had reached stage 4 since last year. Not sure why this is on top HN.

Personally, I value it a lot. If you want to communicate with your colleagues during the day, you have to spend more time in the office; or keep the same time spending less on actual work. Eating lunch together allows you to avoid both.

This can be justified. Multiple times I'd been in the spot when shipping of a feature by a certain date will get your contract signed. And this is dependant of how convenient your workflow is.
