Some people here also equip their cars with some device that makes a high pitched sound when parked, to scare them away. I can't say if it works with animals, but it scares me away alright.

I love HN! Bill gates gets a divorce - downvoted and banned, because it has nothing to do with tech. Squirrel stores nuts in parked truck - up to the frontpage with you!

Or the sun/daylight while being outside? I'd guess that's some orders of magnitude more.

You're right. I imagined that the light would start to fill up immediately after turning off but it looks like thats not how it works, it really is completely off for some time.

The average regular indicator is also only on for 50% of the time. You know the joke: works, doesn't work, works, doesn't work

Sorry, it wasn't my intention to insult you! Just one more question: Suppose you're in the desert and you see a tortoise turned on its back. What do you do?

He better also has built some savings for legal defense. Because he could easily be sued into oblivion especially in Europe.

My guess is this was written as a joke. It's rust, so the person writing this has to have some programming knowledge.

I think lots of industrial processes actually require an atmosphere or at least some of the gases in ours. It would make more sense to make those processes less harmful down here than move them to space

Maybe that's Bezos endgame. Your Amazon packages are dropped from space. Delivery time is only limited by terminal velocity.

After reading this up a little, maybe cement production could be moved to space? Neglecting that we would have to burn 6kg of fuel to get 1kg of limestone into space, the heat could be provided by the sun and the CO2 vent into space?

When I got the first smartphone for my wife (then girlfriend) we set it up when we were in a hotel (without wifi). The 10mb mobile data used for setting up email etc. endet up costing more than the phone :(
