I'm just a single generation away from poverty to the point of - on one side of my family - actual infant malnutrition. Why am I supposed to feel responsible for the actions of people that were geographically and ethnically distinct fr

'Force multiplier'??? I've never understood this peculiarly American obsession with military metaphors, and I'd say this one is particularly ridiculous.

I think the hardening is pretty well understood - just fill any sensitive electronics etc. with resin and it's pretty much solved. But the heat problem certainly is not, and obviously humans, not being particularly amenable to being fi

Wow, amazing imagery. Personally I switched to straight razors recently and given the very low cost of blades I'm quite happy to use a new one every couple of shaves, which for me is only once a week. Edit: sorry, I meant safety razor,

Idk. I switched to a safety razor and everything is better now, save for slightly worse nicks, but a shaving block takes care of that. And the cost of a cartridge (couple of quid each?) certainly is NOT better than the cost of a fresh blad

The stats should be treated with extreme suspicion at this stage - I've read that the only way to get a decent handle on deaths will be via comparison to normal trends. There is zero chance that deaths are being recorded via the same s

Ah come on - the general consensus was that the performance of the UK economy was far better than the prophets of doom (of which there were plenty) had forecasted. Don't change the goalposts now.
