And woe betide anyone that threatens to burst a self-deceiver's bubble with a sharp dose of reality.

Sorry I wasn't saying I thought it was faked or something like that, in case that wasn't clear. I was saying that posting a video celebrating removing a vendor's software from your organisation could be seen as taunting them.

I tested pretty high when I was younger but for various reasons school didn't suit me. I don't think it helps a child at all to be told they are really clever.

I'm still hoping the UK's space strategy (satellites and SABRE excepted) is about playing the extremely long game.

MSM - even the BBC that are supposedly a bastion of good journalism - are generally terrible at covering science. My theory is that journalism now pays so poorly for most in the profession that all the decent graduates seek work elsewhere.

UK economy at least seems in rude health overall, so reputational damage doesn't seem to have affected business.

Whenever the voters vote the wrong way the EU subverts it with the result in effect being overturned in one way or another, so the UK will probably end up staying in and this ATAD will be implemented.

I mentioned TOTP2, which is a showcase of everything, not only the good. And you haven't refuted my claim that pop used to be more diverse. > Oh come on... So take Hollywood then: hardly thriving with originality these days, is it?

For me, less-commercial electronic music is still pushing the boundaries and developing (in no small part down to technology), but popular music is less catchy, less exciting, less sophisticated, less tuneful, less imaginative, more derivat

Take a look at what it takes to get a decent sized infrastructure project underway in the UK, and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

In democratic countries we need some way of overriding individual rights for the collective good once in a while, but then the problem is that governments inevitably seem to get drunk on the power and start abusing it.

I notice this also. I wonder whether it's part of the general policy that seems to be prevalent of keeping the public in an ongoing state of confusion.

Kind of amusing that Gandhi was attacked from the establishment, imperialist side by Churchill, and is now under attack from the opposite side. Poor Gandhi can't win.
