3d cameras though won't let you experiment with the distance between images. It'll give you a consistent look, similar to what our eyes see, but what's cool about using one camera and moving it is you can exaggerate the dista

technically rotation is going to end up giving a slightly different result than lateral displacement, right? but it's very similar for small distances.

Is there really evidence that pro palestine content was intentionally promoted or demoted any any social network? Obviously the possibility is there. But US social media can do it too, which kind of just proves that it's worth having a

> national security apparatus knows something For some stuff like this it's hard to imagine why they wouldn't be able to make it public. You need public support if you're going to ban an app that a lot of the public likes.

I know it's stupid to get upset over an app like TikTok, but the ban really did shock me a little, even more so because of how widely supported it was. What party or politicians support individual freedom in this context? How could lib

Yeah it's interesting to take these ideas to the extreme... even at the lower end I don't like it, I think zero communication outside of clues is the best way to follow the spirit of the game. But a little bit of banter and "

Memorizing the tile layouts is too much for me haha (imo against the spirit of the game). I usually play online now anyway so I hope they don't follow those same patterns as the physical version.

Can you elaborate on some of the more advanced tactics? When I play, it's mostly about getting a good 2 clue each time. Then if you can opportunistically get a 3 or 4, that's awesome. Some tactics come in for choosing the right pa

As someone who's learning a language (french) with Duolingo, and also supplementing that with other methods (podcasts, social media, online chatting, talking to chatgpt) I've also really wanted a way to get duolingo type experienc

They do still need our votes. But they forgot that, so they lost. I voted for democrats but they got what they deserved.

I agree they're different, but IMO they're on the same spectrum - "a difference in degree, not in kind". Where would you draw the line? Bad - quietly manipulating social media recommendations for millions of Americans ..

I get this argument, and obviously it's not stopping people from uploading the same content other places. But isn't there (or shouldn't there be) something about not banning what people can consume? Like could the US ban alja

I know this was a common talking point but I don't really agree it is a valid reason. It's probably just demographic and algorithmic differences that pro-Palestine content is more common on TikTok. What would be interesting though

Same. I mean I didn't find quite the same type of community, but I did get exposed to content that was different than other platforms. Just weirder, more fun, more interesting. Definitely going to miss it if it goes away. It's unf

That's a good way of framing the core concept. D3 was never intuitive for me. Maybe the problem is that it tries to do too much, at too many different level of abstraction? If it's just about projecting data, that's easy enou

I'm not genz but I use tiktok. You need to give it a try. All of the comments on here from people who don't use it are bizarre. We can be skeptical, but not afraid of foreign owned media.

Give it a try. It's weird, fun, educational, stupid. It's whatever you make of it. Is it also whatever China wants you to make of it? Maybe. But they could do the same thing with news, TV, or movies.
