I think the popularity of Twitter is due to people not wanting to express complex or nuanced thoughts. If it weren't Twitter, somebody else would be in that space. It seems to me that the ones who are participating in such networks n

I don't quite know how to feel about this. Perhaps it is my mistrust against Zoom, but I did enjoy the run Keybase had as a semi-independent key and ID manager.

Very much in line with my experience, but in fact for me it wasn't even 'being quite good at,' but just sufficiently managing and exceeding minimum expectations. In my college years that was, for example, studying, working, a

It's still absurd to me that you can get a full account ban for anything , no matter how big or small. Why aren't these bans more fine-grained? Is it so difficult?

Can anybody explain why the researchers are attempting to generate the whole song as a single waveform, as opposed to wiring generated MIDI into some instruments and separately a singing algorithm (perhaps a bit easier than the whole bulk w

I wonder if it can be filtered out, on the other hand. Does anybody have knowledge on audio fingerprinting/watermarking? Or is it perhaps security theater?

Fun fact: iOS app icons are not rounded rectangles (rectangles with 90 degree arc corners) but squircles, which are roughly superellipses with n=5. The linked Wikipedia articles also remark this.

I would go as far as to argue that Factorio is my Animal Crossing. For your average, casual player, Animal Crossing provides rote tasks that engages you with the game world without the added complexity. Factorio, SdV, and AC all ultimatel

I have a question for all the physics nerds here: The surface of the Earth is not quite flat. When you consider the sheer radius of it, it can be approximated as such, but it isn't. Do geographical features (massive mountains and deep

Currently the compiler gives "not a type" when the brackets are removed; I agree that it might be to disambiguate, but it's confusing and redundant syntax. I expect { } to be used strictly for blocks in Rust.

I'm not sure if you're left over from 2007, but practically all Nvidia GPUs since 2008 have had double precision arithmetic. Integers are still compiled to 32-bit, sometimes, but doubles have been standard for quite a while.
