That's funny. I have a Thinkpad P14s for work and an HP x360 for personal use which are both running Linux with AMD. They have the best Linux support I've ever seen. The graphics drivers are especially nice, fast and bug free. I c

My oneplus 8t gets 3-6 days of batterry life with lineageos depending on screen use. It lasted only a day before lineage. Android has great battery life, spyware doesn't ;-).

I made a side project to experiment with this approach (and rust) a few years ago. It worked pretty well but it made simple queries more complex[1]. I was a little bit worried that complex queries would become a lot more complex so I'm

I would love to buy a 14" system76 laptop if it had a nice 'lenovo' like keyboard. The only AMD laptop they have has a numpad which off centers the keyboard which is a deal breaker :-(. I would also miss the trackpoint

Good news is that you can't trully brick a reMarkable v1 unless you break the hardware. I 'bricked' my reMarkable v1 before and used a tool to boot the CPU into recovery mode to load a new kernel over the usb port[1]. Using t

If you could replicate that would be very interesting since a single datapoint doesn't say much. Brand new oneplus 8T and I was getting ~1 day of battery life with about 3-4 hours of use. I never enabled any google services and that wa

I recently got a new phone and the battery life doubled once I disabled all the default permissions on google apps. I knew they were consuming battery but that's a lot.

I've been running a Radeon RX 470 for a few years now and the Linux drivers are superb. Better than the intel ones that I have in my laptop. It took ~6 months after launch for it to get stable but it has been rock solid ever since. It

Sleep has been working on my last ~10 laptops and desktops, it's a non-issue at this point unless you have brand new exotic hardware. I did have a motherboard issue on a first-gen Ryzen that required a bios update to get it working. hi

After reading your comment I tried Rust Analyzer and wow, it makes a huge difference. I was previously using rls and it was misssing a few key features (I didn't even realize it). Thank you for the suggestion :-)

My experience with Sway was the same until the 1.0 release (about 11 months ago). The 1.0 release fixed all the show stoppers and I've been happily using it ever since. It also comes with a few nice things build in like gaps. To be hon

Public transport is easy when the city is reasonably sized. Toronto is a huge spread out city. The surface area it covers makes public transport really difficult which is not great for the standard of living.
