Wow! I didn't know this ad existed, but it pretty much nails it: "A dazzling display of common sense." And thumbs haven't changed since then!

I use VS Code and it never felt sluggish. But it’s probably one of the best Electron apps out there. Honestly, if I had to develop a Desktop app today and wanted it to be cross-platform, I’d probably use Electron. No need for hacky workarou

That’s the right mentality. I'd say don't change it if it works (and is nowhere near as bad as Slack). If the difference in practice is marginal it‘d provide no real value.

A feature I missed in OneNote: Handwriting recognition. Both GoodNotes and Notability are able to search your writing, provided it’s somewhat legible.

Nearly everything has an environmental impact. And do you really think a Laptop compares favorably to thousands of pages of paper? But I guess you could get a used iPad with the Apple Pencil or something similar.

I recently tried Firefox on a Windows machine, and noticed that the font rendering was much, much worse than in Chrome or Opera, it looked almost bold and was hard to read. I guess it’s got something to do with subpixel hinting. Has anybody

I use hugo (single binary) with Github and Netlify. When I push to the master branch, Netlify automatically builds the website and publishes it on my domain. Sure, not as accessible as Medium, but it’s pretty simple.

No, those are mostly fine, but a blog has different requirements than a text editor. I just find it a bit hard to read, because for example bright pictures really stand out, and I think he’s using different shades of white (or grey) for the

I agree with the author: It sucks. But so does white font on a blue background, since we’re also talking about readability. At least they got that right!

> hoping that people in Africa will stay poor so they cannot That’s a pretty far-fetched allegation which does not contribute anything to the discussion, but instead makes it seem more black/white or rather good/bad.

I personally have a small carbon footprint, considering I live in Europe. But I know that it’s no more than virtuous wishful thinking if I were to start a vegan diet out of love for the environment. What we need is practical, economic solut

Developers and other people with great jobs know very well how privileged they are. That doesn't mean that they're not allowed to have problems and be stressed.

Things that are widely recognized as "good". Who could say no to that for the sake of minimal change? Also, this doesn't affect life in a way that dating or the hassle of having to carry cash with you to buy bread do. Of cour

Sadly, I feel like people and politics lack common sense, especially in Germany. Hastily closing nuclear power plants after the Fukushima incident was not a smart decision and hurt the environment in the long term. It could've been a &

I don't understand people who don't read the news. Do they also not vote, as they cannot form their own political opinion? In reality they probably do, but are susceptible to populism, be it right-wing, left-wing, green or what el

Thank you! I love Spotmatics! Sadly, the ones I inherited have light leaks. If you're not going to use the viewfinder, it'd probably be a lot easier to use something wider than 50mm. Besides the greater depth of field making zone-

I like that blog post, it resonated with me and generally feels like sound life advice. But the problem I have with it is that this is essentially the life advice you'd get from a good friend after the 3rd beer in the pub, yet it'
