I'm not sure where you live, but employee contracts in the US are very rare in tech. Unions, execs, and rock stars - that's about it. The rest of us are at-will and disposable. Worker protections in the US are limited to "the

This is clear and useful but I wish you'd picked different example numbers. Using 1 and 2 for both bread and milk makes it harder to look at the matrix form and immediately see whether a 1 in a matrix is the bread 1 or the milk 1. If

This looks pretty but it's very confusing and I have no idea what it wants from me. It says 'click here!' so I did but nothing came of it.

I have no R experience but have been using Polars instead of Pandas for this sort of stuff and it feels less clunky. How does Polars compare to R?

So a corporation can do bad things like poison entire communities and get out of trouble by slipping the president some money? And that's how the framers intended this to work? We sure have come a long way since "by the people, fo

IPAM is insane. BYOIP requires IPAM. This makes things even more insane - if you want to manage any BYOIP addresses you need to enable IPAM for all IP addresses (not just BYOIP) in an account. We tried this at a previous job to manage a

You could spell it out - "R-I-S-C". The first three letters could be "Rice" or "Rise" instead of "Riss". I suppose you could have a soft "C" - "risch" - but that's a stretch a

TFTP is probably the exception to that rule. All the other protocols started out easily enough and added more and more cruft. TFTP stayed the way it's always been - minimalist, terrifyingly awful at most things, handy for a few corner

Sure, but Go can do things in parallel too. How is Rust's faster than Go's, especially if they're limited by the speed of the commands they run?

It is sad that part of a state's response to a disaster has to include defensive propaganda[1] in order to justify federal aid to impacted residents. What should be a no-brainer has now turned into a PR battle. [1] "information th

I hate the OSI model too, but a 240-page book with 137 references? To complain that a model from the 80s isn't the right fit 40 years later? This isn't a paper, it's a rant.
