Have you tried using Julia for this task? It's compiled and provides many of the math-y facilities you'll need for something like this (I'd assume).

NiMH needs venting. "One inherent risk with NiMH chemistry is that overcharging causes hydrogen gas to form, potentially rupturing the cell. Therefore, cells have a vent to release the gas in the event of serious overcharging" [0]

Just install FreeNAS on a usb stick and buy a PC off GovDeals for $50. Not Linux but it's the best NAS you'll get.

I was designing my own ISA for a computer I want to build out of relays (eventually). I want everything to be in software because I'm a software guy and relays are expensive. You can find more about what I was trying to do here: http:

I recently did a similar project but I tried something different in an attempt to avoid large switch statements. I created a collection of functions which could mutate my version of the "Frame" object, created an array of pointers

I don't know if Nim would be my first choice for a future scientific computing language. I think I'd be more focused on Julia or, recently, Crystal. Julia has some extreme magic that it can do to make your life easy. Crystal will

You may also consider another distro entirely. I'm very fond of Manjaro. It's an Arch-based distribution. You can choose one of many desktop engines. Some of which are very fast.

That's amazing. I'm very excited about the prospect of auto-magically trans-piling code into GPU code. This sort of tech will make GPUs approachable to many more scientists and programmers.

    > Julia has recently gained support for syntactic loop fusion, where chained vector operations are fused into a single broadcast Wow. That's very impressive. I hope one day we get this sort of tooling with AMD GPUs.

It's much more complicated and a much lower on the cost-benefit totem-pole than... 1. Inlining 2. Compiling bytecode for a specific set of input and output types 3. Object Recycling 4. Runtime-compiling to machine code

Why was the stack implemented as a linked list? Could this be turned into a block allocated array to improve cache locality (get rid of an entire int). 64%8 = 0 so you won't have any alignment issues. You'd also avoid doing free()
