I'm with you. For us it has been pretty much fine. My spouse and I stay at home for the most part, except for the occasional shopping trip. Working from home. Luckily we haven't got on each others nerves much :)

I enjoy the convenience of wireless. But I do make a conscious effort to put devices that are going to stay in one location on Ethernet if possible. I even specifically bought a certain Roku model mainly because it had Ethernet. So basicall

This is not 100% correct for Google. Realistically yes I agree. But you can at least install a 3rd Party app store on Android, as I have done with F-droid. Also I believe Amazon has an App store too. The percentage of people who do that is

One nit about this article. It claims that the Yubikey does not support TOTP (Time-based One Time Code). I believe all of the Gen 5 versions that plug into your computer's USB port support TOTP. There is an app called Yubico Authentica

Well that is kind of the the point of multi-factor authentication. * Something you know (your username/password). * Something you have. The Yubikey or other hardware token. If you lose your Yubikey, by itself it should not allow access

I think this is what caused the problems with the MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) I use. I noticed today that calling and texting weren't working on our phones. Our MVNO uses T-Mobile as its network, so this kind of explains eve

Two screens seems like a no-brainer for what I consider the typical HN reader as I think they are likely a software developer. Especially if the one screen is a laptop screen. I find myself much more productive having a standard keyboard, m

Many text editors now have this feature built in. Myself I use vim and the vim-fugitive plugin. Being able to do ":Gblame" is amazing. And then being able to step back in time to see what the code looked like before this commit is

I think having commit messages that point to a an issue tracker and don't have the context from that issue tracker are a bad idea. At some point things are likely to change and the issue tracker that was being used will be changed. And

An important thing for me in a commit message is the "why" of the commit. Sure it can state "changed foo to use blah". But why did they do that is often very important information. Sometimes it is very obvious from the w
